This morning, I went on twitter to see what’s new and discovered a large following of people tweeting about their desire to #GiveBack to those around them as their way of celebrating the life of Martin Luther King, Jr.. Several people listed the organizations they are volunteering at today from homeless shelters to children’s hospitals. There are many encouraging notes from this community of volunteers looking forward to taking today not as a vacation from work, but a day to hit the streets and help where help is needed.
We’ve been focusing on giving back all year around as part of our desire to develop a balance between personal and professional life. We started the year off by reviewing our Vision Statement and making sure our focus is in the right direction. One of the phrases in our statement is “to be known as a firm that values, respects and encourages our employees to achieve a balance between personal and professional growth”. Owners, Trent & Valerie Beighle, make it a point to make sure we have the ability to give to those in our community – whether that is to volunteer our time or funds to donate. They really make sure we have the tools needed to give to those in our community. Supporting our communities not only encourages the growth of those around us, but helps us develop balance within our own lives.
As we all reflect on the work and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, hopefully we can all find our own way to give back to one another and live the dreams his life represented.
